New Age

Even though most people give different meanings to the New Age movement, all New Age topics have one basic underlying theme, and that is "Spiritual Development".

The New Age community is growing faster than ever. People from around the world are waking up to the knowledge, understanding and realization of who they really are, where they came from, and why they are where they are today.

The New Age movement provides the framework and the tools to assist people with their own personal growth, and spiritual development. A person may use crystals, candles, incense, Tarot cards, Rune stones, yarrow stalks, Chinese coins, a pendulum, bodywork, meditation, toning, chanting, drums, Numbers, and Science. These tools can help a person transcend into various states of consciousness, and thus ultimately help a person turn within to look inside oneself for understanding.

A key component of the New Age is the belief that our planet and its population are literally moving into a New Age. This New Age is one of awakened consciousness where people give up their limited three-dimensional universe and awaken to a higher level of consciousness and existence. This New Age is an era of harmony, progress, knowledge, and enlightenment.

What is important in the New Age phenomena is that each of us embarks on their own journey of learning, adventure, or discovery.

Tarot

Tarot is a psychological and philosophical system consisting generally of 78 cards divided into two categories: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana includes 22 cards, and the Minor Arcana consists of 4 suits, each containing 4 Court cards and ten Number cards.

The origin of Tarot is a mystery, but references to playing cards appear in Europe from the mid 1300s. We do know for a fact that Tarot cards were used in Italy in the 15th century as a popular card game. Card decks with rich and beautiful artistic content were commissioned by some wealthy patrons. The hand painted Visconti-Sforza deck of Milan, Italy was created in 1450 or shortly thereafter; it is one of the earliest and most complete Tarot Decks to date. Tarot became recognized as more powerful than a game would suggest around the 18th and 19th century due to the high level of inspiration brought by the rich deck graphics.

Tarot is now most commonly used as a tool for divination. The traditional Tarot reading requires a seeker (someone looking for some answers to some innate questions) and a reader (someone who understands well the concept of Tarot, and is able to act as an inspiration or a guide to the seeker). A Tarot reading traditionally contains the following steps:

  1. The seeker shuffles and cuts the deck
  2. The reader lays out the chosen cards in a spread pattern (Each position in the spread has a meaning, Each card in the deck has a meaning)
  3. The Reader uses his knowledge of Tarot to complete a Tarot reading

There is no magic nor special powers associated with Tarot cards. Tarot cards are meant to be used as a mirror of oneself. That is to say, the Tarot cards aid in sifting through one's own ideas to reach a solution. It is up to each individual to find personal meaning in the cards, to use the cards as a medium of creativity and focus, to finally arrive at a well thought out solution.

Runes

Runes are characters used in an ancient alphabet that most probably has been derived from a Northern Etruscan alphabet. Around 100AD, the Runes were used by all the Germanic tribes. This style of Runes are called the Germanic Futhark (derived from the the first six runes in the alphabet) or the Elder Futhark and consist of 24 different Rune stones. Each Rune have an individual name; these names correspond to common keywords used in ancient languages. They are sorted into 3 families of 8 Runes. The 'A' Rune, for example, is pronounced 'Ansuz', meaning God; the 'F' Rune is pronounced 'Fehu', representing Wealth and Prosperity.

Runes were probably designed to be carved in wood and similar items. Runes were often carved onto tools, weapons, rocks, religious, or personal items. Objects marked in this manner were assumed to possess magical powers, or to have been blessed in some manner. Not every viking could read the Runes. The people who understood the Runes were highly regarded in their communities and were often considered to have supernatural qualities and powers.

Since the development of Runes, the alphabet has been used for divination purposes. The simple words represented by Runes can be used for fortune telling. Runes are believed to evoke higher powers which may influence a person's luck. Several methods of divination are used in a Runes reading. Runes were supposed to have contained magic and were used to cast spells, inflict curses, create talismans and as guiding markers for travelers. In modern times, Runes are used to understand the past, decipher the present and foretell the future through the personal significance of each individual rune, its material, as well as its location with respect to the other casted or drawn runes.

I Ching

I Ching is the Chinese Book of Changes where "Ching" means book and "I" means change or changes. I Ching is an ancient system of divination, which originated thousands of years ago in China. A hexagram is created by casting coins or more traditionally, by manipulating yarrow stalks. The hexagram itself is composed of two trigrams. By combining the 8 trigrams, a total of 64 hexagrams can be created. The lines are either straight (Yang) or broken (Yin).

The Book of Changes views the world around us as undergoing continuous change according to natural and fixed laws. By explaining the present in terms of the natural laws that have lead up to the current situation, we can predicate the future based on past events.

According to I Ching, the universe is a natural and well coordinated system in which change never ceases. It suggests that human nature and destiny is based on principle and order. I Ching makes it possible for us to view individual human activities and situations within the larger context of harmonious interactions between people, nature, and the universe.

The study of numbers dates back at least 10,000 years and was brought into prominence by the famous Greek mathematician Pythagoras 2500 years ago. Many cultures studied numbers such as the ancient Mayans and Egyptians.

Both the intrinsic value of numbers (e.g. 2+2=4) and the symbolic nature of numbers form the basis of numerology. Different numbers mean different things in cultures throughout the world. Christians consider the number 13 unlucky since Judas (the 13th apostle) betrayed Jesus at the last supper. As well, the number 666 (the number of the beast or the devil) comes from the book of Revelations in the Bible. The Japanese and Chinese consider 4 an unlucky number, since the word for 4 sounds like the word for death; while number 8 is considered a lucky number, since the word for 8 sounds like the word for wealth.

Numerologists analyze names as follows. Each letter has a numeric value that has a cosmic vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and the sum of the numeric value of the letters in your name provide the numerologist with an interpretation of the greater cosmic vibrations.

Each letter in your name has a numeric value as per the Pythagorean letter grid above. If your name is John Smith, the numeric value of your full name is 1 + 6 + 8 + 5 +1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 44. However, 44 is still too big, and has to be reduced. Reduction is achieved by summing up the individual digits: 4+4=8. For analysis, all numbers must be reduced to a number between 1 and 9, or to 11 or 22. Note that the master numbers 11 and 22 are not reduced to 2 and 4 respectively in numerological analysis. The numbers 11 and 22 are considered enhanced or super versions of the numbers 2 and 4, respectively. The meaning or significance can then be interpreted as each number has certain attributes or characteristics.

Everything that happens around us in the nature is periodic. We are influenced by the changing cycles of the seasons, moon shape, day and night. Every human life is influenced by these factors and 'works' in a periodical way as well. These cycles can influence things such as coordination, immunity to disease, strength, mental stability, moods, logical thoughts and ability to learn, memory recall, instincts, etc.

There are three known biorhythm cycles: Physical, Emotional and Intellectual. Each of these cycles starts at the date of birth. From this point, each of the cycles starts to rise up through its active phase until it falls back to the zero level. Then it continues through the zero level to go on to a passive phase. Then it raise again to the zero level to begin all over again. Each time the cycle crosses the zero level from the active to the passive phase, it is said to be in a critical state (critical day). During the critical day the associated abilities are unstable.

When the cycle crosses the zero level from the passive to active phase it is said to be in a zero state (zero day). In the active phase the abilities associated with the particular cycle are high. When the cycle is in its passive phase the abilities are diminished; however, this day is better than a critical day because the cycle is heading towards the active phase.
